Dear People of Mbarara,

I humbly seek your vote and support as I stand to represent you as the Woman Member of Parliament for Mbarara District in 2026. My name is Desire JK Barugahare, a proud daughter of Mbarara, born in Mbarara Hospital, and raised in the heart of this beautiful district we all call home.

I come from Rutooma, Bwizibwera, Kashari, and I am a granddaughter of the respected Mr. Enoch and Canon Mangeri Kazoora. I was shaped by our local schools—St. Aloysius Primary School Nyamitanga, Bweranyangi Girls, and Kyebambe Girls—and later earned my Bachelor’s degree from Makerere University. I furthered my studies in Marketing in the UK and earned a Master’s Degree from Atlantic International University (USA).

I have been married to George Barugahare of Rubaare, Ntungamo, since 2001, and we are blessed with seven wonderful children: Danielle, Gabriel, Makayla, Joseph, James, Emmanuel, and Khloe. Now that my children are older, I feel the call to serve you—my Mbarara family—and Uganda at large.

I am a God-fearing woman, a Counselling Psychologist, and a lifelong servant of humanity. I’ve worked with individuals and communities across the world, helping people discover their purpose, grow through challenges, and live meaningful lives.

Now, I bring that experience back home—with a heart ready to serve.

MY VISION FOR MBARARA

As your Woman MP, I will:

Be your voice in Parliament, representing the real needs, dreams, and concerns of women in Mbarara.

Advocate for women, children, families, and the marginalized, ensuring their issues are at the forefront of national policy.

Champion laws that promote gender equality and justice, especially when it comes to fair allocation of resources.

Serve as a role model to inspire mothers, students, and young girls that their dreams are valid and achievable.

Educate communities on their rights and opportunities, so that no woman or youth is left behind.

Promote collaboration between Mbarara and other districts and nations to foster empowerment and growth.

Support women in business, creating platforms for entrepreneurship, funding, and skills training.

Establish adult education programs, especially for women, to build a more skilled and prosperous society.

Equip women with tools for managing homes, raising children, and building strong, value-based families.
